Job Description
Job Title: Teacher
Basic Functions: Responsible for creating and implementing engaging and academically meaningful lessons, in accordance with principles of differentiated learning and a trauma-informed model.
Reports To: Early Learning Center Administrator
Program Objective: To provide high quality, trauma-informed preschool and pre-K that prepares children for kindergarten and a lifetime of healthy social interaction and academic success
Principal Responsibilities
Implement curriculum and trauma-informed behavior management, using differentiated learning techniques and a trauma-informed model In coordination with Assistant Teacher and support staff, develop and retain strong communication with parents and caregivers Continue professional development, participate in YWCA-sponsored trainings Attend weekly or bi-weekly class meetings Use provided forms to document children's social, developmental, emotional, and academic progress Work as an effective part of a team of service providers
Requirements
BA in ECE or Child Development Three years working with pre-school aged children, preferably in a trauma-informed environment Knowledge of basic Child Psychology concepts (Attachment Theory, Safe Spaces, etc.) especially as they relate to trauma and behavior management Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work well in a collaborative team Dedication to engaging positively with children and their families Ability to implement differentiated learning in lesson plans and classroom Excellent classroom management skills and ability to use positive reinforcement effectively in the classroom Dedication to engaging frequently and positively with families Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and/or High/Scope curriculums Continue professional development in accordance with Step Up To Quality and Universal Pre-K, as well as attending additional trainings offered by the Early Learning CenterEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
