Under the leadership of the Corporate Controller, the primary responsibility is to own the accounting functions of the business unit including General Ledger Accounting, Month-end Close, and Inventory Control.
This role is the primary business partner of the business unit president and their leadership team, especially the plant controller.
This role will be tasked with helping drive the business unit to its goals and ensure accurate recording of accounting activity through good controls and process management to aid in proper decision making.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Manage month-end closing process to ensure integrity of financial results in a consistent and timely manner in according with US GAAP following internal close processes.
Ensure a strong control environment around financials and cash flow for the business unit especially around inventory control.
Proactively interact with supervisors, plant management team as well as senior management to ensure all parties have a clear and accurate picture of the business unit's overall financial performance.
An advisor/mentor on accounting/finance to plant leadership aiding the decision-making process.
Monitor cash position of the business unit in a forward-looking manner and safeguard cash from internal and external risks.
Actively participate in business reviews with company CEO and CFO to review results monthly and explain key variances to budget, prior year, or other expectations.
Oversee and review BOM accuracy to ensure inventory properly flows through the system with sound plant operational processes.
Own product costing and related margin understanding from cost movements.
Help drive continuous improvement initiatives around process efficiency and cost out opportunities.
Improve leveraging of ERP system capabilities to measure and monitor the success of the business unit more efficiently.
Participate and support annual budgeting and quarterly forecast processes.
Analyze and approve financial decisions of the business unit through cash flow and margin analysis.
Oversee commissions programs and other financial planning & analysis efforts around decision support information to help drive good pricing and business decisions.
Support bank and external financial audits or reviews.
Ad-hoc projects and analysis / other duties as assigned.
Travel requirements are minimal not counting driving to local plant site.

Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting CPA preferred (active or inactive) At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
Cost accounting and operational accounting experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Public accounting experience a plus Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting processes in a manufacturing environment.
Experience driving change and process improvement.
Strong ERP experience with Sage 100 experience a plus.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in other MS Office applications.
