Job Summary Apply the principles of accounting within an assigned area of accounting while analyzing and maintaining the monthly general ledger activity of their assigned portfolio.
Compiles financial information, processes journal entries into various accounts, reconcile reports and financial data.
Some familiarity with and an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance.
Possess some knowledge of the financial accounting systems while operating within an environment that complies with Fair Housing laws and Equal Employment Opportunities.
Requirements Education:
Bachelor degree with courses in accounting, business, or equivalent experience required.

No requirements Essential Responsibilities Due to the variation of the position, the Financial Accountant II may be responsible for any of the following
Responsibilities:
Analyze and maintain the monthly general ledger activity relating to the assigned portfolio Prepare monthly schedules that support and reconcile the G/L balances.
Prepare monthly detailed schedules of fixed assets and reconcile G/L balances to the balances in fix asset system.
Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Ensure fixed assets are depreciated over the proper useful life in accordance with GAAP.
Review and provide feedback to Operations on the monthly submitted AME checklists.
Review and/or reconcile bank/trust accounts.
Prepare quarterly audit of payroll transactions.
Provide review of audit to Controller and VPs.
Prepare quarterly audit of benefit transactions.
Provide review of audit to Controller and VPs.
Prepare quarterly audit of workers comp transactions.
Provide review of audit to Controller and VPs.
Prepare monthly water and sewer analysis to Controller, VPs, and Directors.
Prepare the monthly reconciliation of the corporate AMEX program.
Prepare miscellaneous cash transfer forms.
Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports Communicate with property personnel in order to create an understanding of the financial statements and the underlying sources Provide detail relating to HUD compliance and reporting procedures.
Prepare monthly surplus cash calculations and projections.
Prepare monthly escrow analysis where applicable, request overages.
Prepare annual budgets.
Meet deadlines on projects relating to the property portfolio Assist in the review of year-end external financial statements Complete year audit package in accordance with Company procedures and policies.
On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.
