Director of Construction

As the Director of Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our construction projects. You will provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the construction field teams, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise will be essential in coordinating and managing all construction activities, including procurement, planning, scheduling, and budgeting.


Responsibilities:


  • -Oversee the entire construction process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with design specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • -Work with Project Managers to develop and implement construction plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies to meet project objectives.
  • -Review project plans, specifications, and other contract documents to ensure compliance with the project scope.
  • -Ensures adherence to the budget and, when unexpected complications or issues arise, makes quick and necessary adjustments.
  • -Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and potential issues are addressed.
  • -Review and approve construction contracts, change orders, and payment requests.
  • -Monitor project progress and performance, conducting regular site visits, inspections, and audits to ensure quality, adherence to project plans and company policies.
  • -Manage and lead a team of construction professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and feedback.
  • -Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor relationships.
  • -Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement construction safety protocols and training programs.
  • -Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of people, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers.
  • -Stay updated on industry trends, new construction technologies, and best practices to continuously improve construction processes.
  • -Develop and implement strategies to optimize construction operations and drive efficiency.
  • -Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and clients.
  • -Reviews and works with Preconstruction to develop budget estimates and regularly communicates with Vice President of Construction concerning budget progress and costs throughout the entire process.
  • -Manages and leads actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
  • -Develop and execute the construction division's strategic vision in alignment with the overall company goals.
  • -Provide leadership in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • -Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • -Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • -Bachelor degree in Construction Management or other related field a plus
  • -Strong knowledge of construction industry best practices, building codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • -Proven track record of successfully delivering largescale construction projects on time and within budget.
  • -Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to identify and address project risks and challenges.
  • -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams, stakeholders, and contractors.
  • -Exceptional leadership abilities, with a track record of motivating and inspiring teams to achieve project goals.
  • -Proficiency in construction project management software and tools

Required Skills/Abilities:


  • -Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • -Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • -Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast paced environment.
  • -Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • -Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.

Physical Requirements:


  • -Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • -Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
  • -Travel required.
  • -Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
