About Us:
The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy shall act efficiently, consistently, and impartially in the public interest to pursue optimal standards of practice through communication, education, legislation, licensing, and enforcement.
The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy is the single State agency in Ohio responsible for administering and enforcing laws governing the practice of pharmacy and the legal distribution of drugs. The Board consists of nine members who are appointed by the Governor for terms of four years. Eight of the members are licensed pharmacists who represent, to the extent practicable, each phase of pharmacy practice. One member represents the public. The Board has a staff of 90 employees that is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations and responsibilities of the Board.

Assignment Location:
This Inspector position is assigned to the Northeast Region of Ohio. The final candidate selected for this position is required to live in or relocate to Cuyahoga county within 180 days from effective date of hire.
What You'll Do:
Inspectors work from a residential home office and are provided a state vehicle for official Board of Pharmacy business. Inspectors play a critical role in fulfilling the mission of the Board of Pharmacy by being actively involved in the regulation and enforcement of laws governing the distribution of legal drugs in Ohio.
Conducts regulatory inspections of licensed facilities where dangerous drugs are stored, sold, dispensed, compounded, manufactured, or otherwise distributed (retail pharmacies, emergency medical services, jail facilities, first aid rooms, health clinics, and veterinary services) to ensure compliance with all Ohio and federal drug laws and regulations relating to the legal distribution of dangerous drugs (reviews security and accountability pertaining to all dangerous drug stocks, prescription records, records of administration, other records of accountability required by law, dispensing and compounding equipment, pharmaceutical, and legal library reference materials), inspects alternative record keeping systems for accountability, security, and positive identification of all parts of practice of pharmacy.
Completes detailed inspection reports documenting findings and any violations necessitating verbal or written warnings requiring written responses.
Interacts and collaborates with other Board of Pharmacy employees in conducting inspections and assisting in investigative matters surrounding licensed and unlicensed facilities possessing dangerous drug stocks.
Training:
If you are selected for the Pharmacy Board Inspector position, you will be required to complete a 16-week training. This training will take place in Columbus, Ohio and also in the field. Traveling to and from training will be required.

THE INITIAL PROBATIONARY PERIOD FOR ALL NEWLY HIRED EMPLOYEES WILL BE 365 DAYS. UNLESS REQUIRED BY LEGISLATION OR UNION CONTRACT, STARTING SALARY WILL BE SET AT STEP 1 OF THE PAY RANGE.
42 mos. exp. within pharmaceutical industry; valid driver's license.
Or passage of an examination approved by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy to determine a person's competency to perform services as a qualified pharmacy technician; 30 mos. exp. within pharmaceutical industry; valid drivers' license.
Or completion of associate program core coursework in law enforcement or health care related field; 24 mos. exp. within pharmaceutical industry; valid driver's license.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
