3 Quick Apply Full-time 5 hours ago Full Job Description Position Overview Alcyon Technical Services, located at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC), is recruiting for a Technology Transfer Specialist to provide support to the Code T Office of Technology Incubation and Innovation (OTII) in the areas of award identification, preparation and processing; success story preparation and distribution; and technical writing, and outreach support.
Primary/Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Track technologies with the technical staff and/or management to identify and determine how they meet the criteria for the awards supported by the TTO.
Represent GRC in support of the activities of the NASA Inventions and Contributions Board.
This includes coordination of the Invention of the Year and Software of the Year award nominations and requires approval of a Government Awards Liaison Officer.
Support the nomination of technologies for receipt of the R&D 100 Award, Space Technology Hall of Fame, Federal Laboratory Consortium, and other external awards that are consistent with the mission of the OTII.
Track the success of the nominations submitted and make any required changes in the process.
Inform all applicants of the results of their nominations and work to ensure that recipients receive the maximum amount of exposure practicable both internally and externally (includes working with the Office of Communications & External Relations).
Coordinate and initiate the nomination/selection process for the Distinguished Publication Award for the Center Chief Technologist.
Utilize the NASA Technology Transfer System (NTTS) as the database to record, track, and monitor innovations, technologies, awards, etc.
Assist in the preparation and distribution of success stories stemming from the full spectrum of GRC activities in the OTII.
This includes working with other staff members to identify potential success stories; working with the technical staff to clearly understand the success and the involvement of the OTII; and either drafting the success story or working with contractor staff to draft the success story.
Ensure that each success story is entered into the NTTS database and posted on the GRC OTII Web sites.
Explore additional methods of increasing the visibility of the success story through various media internal and external to the Center.
Initiate draft documents, in support of a number of different tasks that include nominations, articles, press releases, display, and outreach materials.
Track TechBrief publications in NTTS.
Perform technical writing in support of a number of different tasks that include nominations, articles, press releases, displays, and outreach materials.
Prepare, collect, and coordinate information for and participate in in-reach/outreach events for the OTII or on behalf of the Center as requested.
Propose and when applicable, initiate in-reach activities relating to the OTII.
Secure hardware for displays and work with the technical staff and external partners.
Track monthly metrics for the OTII for awards, publications, and articles.
Provide a weekly summary of activities including status, issues, and accomplishments to the OTII management.
Create and maintain a yearly timeline of awards including due dates in PowerPoint.
Create and maintain multiple schedules using Excel for tracking of all OTII activities and awards.
Attend scheduled Staff, Monthly Status, and other meetings per request.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND
Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, English, writing/Journalism, or equivalent.
Experience:
1 to 3 years of office experience with minimum of 8 months of experience in technology transfer at NASA.
Experience drafting and composing both internal and external communications to include instructions, summarizations, and responses.
Demonstrates proficiency at the Intermediate Level for Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Skills:
A working knowledge of NASA, the Technology Transfer Program, and a high-level understanding of the work performed at GRC are required to be able to identify when technologies are significant enough to qualify for awards.
Knowledge of the elements of the Technology Transfer Program is required to identify success stories and provide input into other technical writing and outreach assignments.
Analytical skills and a general understanding of marketing and outreach communications are required to identify technologies suitable for awards, success stories, and other material, to determine the best methods to communicate information, and to implement both best practice and continuous improvement methods.
Excellent oral skills are required to work with team members from other NASA Centers, interview GRC employees to identify information pertinent to awards, success stories, and other material and to translate complex technical ideas and outcomes into easily understood language.
Excellent written skills are required to clearly and concisely describe complex information pertinent to awards, success stories, and other material for their intended audience.
Ability to review, research, and summarize data.
Ability to analyze information, prioritize work, and follow-through to meet deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple, time sensitive tasks simultaneously with a focus on results and quality.
Has clear and strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates proper use of grammar, excels in proofreading, and has a keen attention to detail.
Strong customer service and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is critical.
