Apply for JobJob ID11783LocationCase Main CampusFull/Part TimeFull-TimeRegular/TemporaryRegularAdd to Favorite JobsEmail this JobJob DescriptionPOSITION OBJECTIVEThe Campus Security Mobile Operations Coordinator serves the various constituencies of Case Western Reserve University in a manner that is consistent with the educational philosophy and principles of the institution.
The primary objective of the position is to reduce the threat of physical harm, protect the physical assets of the university, and to provide assistance and emergency response services as warranted to visitors and faculty, staff and students at the university.
The secondary objective would be to build and maintain successful security training and event program coverage to maximize officer output and improved customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage the staffing and scheduling of security personnel for mobile security officers for both routine operations and special events.
Work with on site management staff to coordinate event coverage and building staffing needs.
(45%) Monitor and oversee the daily operations of security personnel assigned to mobile patrol.
Schedule mandatory safety/security training and maintain records.
Train newly and presently assigned officers in the department.
(20%) Perform the functions of a mobile security officer.
Respond to incidents/calls for service, write and submit reports, conducts routine patrols as required.
Provide first responder support in medical emergencies.
Enforce applicable university rules and regulations.
(10%) Provide security and crowd control at university events as required.
(10%) Keep mobile security officers and appropriate management informed of ongoing issues or concerns.
Proactively identifies security vulnerabilities in procedures or structure and advises appropriate management.
(9%) NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participate in the hiring process, to include agility tests and interviews for vacant security positions at the facility.
Provide input for performance reviews for mobile security officers.
(5%) Perform other specialized operational functions within the department as assigned.
(1%) CONTACTSDepartment:
Daily contact with central dispatch via portable radio and telephone.
Frequent contact with the Facility Security Manager to exchange information.
University:
Daily contact with Mobile Security staff to exchange information.
External:
Daily contact with the general public, caterers, event staff to exchange information.
Students:
Daily contact with Case Western Reserve University students using facilities and attending events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYSupervises security personnel assigned to MPAC/TVUC under the direction of the Manager of Facility Security.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
2 years of prior security experience preferable.
Must pass a thorough background investigation including criminal history.
May be required to undergo psychological screening and a job-related skills assessment.
Education/Licensing:
High school education, two-year degree in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice preferred or equivalent combination of education and related experience will be considered.
Possess a valid Ohio operator's license with no significant violations.
REQUIRED SKILLS Have an understanding of the security function within an educational institution.
Possess the ability to interact in a sensitive, courteous and understanding manner with members of a diverse academic community.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to operate monitors, computers, computer programs, create spreadsheets and record keeping.
Must be familiar with and able to operate fire and security equipment located at the site.
Optimize productivity by multi-tasking between officer duties, training and event planning.
Initiate good security practices targeting patterns of criminal activity.
Maximize officer visibility by utilizing detex patrol effectively through monitoring of software.
Ability to meet consistent attendance.
Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers face to face.
WORKING CONDITIONSExposure to inside and outside environmental conditions.
May require reaching, standing, walking, climbing, fingering, grasping and feeling, and the ability to lift or move objects of up to 20 pounds.
May require extended hours and/or weekends.
