Job Description:

SUMMARY
Coordinatesall aspects pertaining to the safe and efficient functioning of the radiographylab including but not limited to ensuring properly functioning equipment,ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and teaching students during multiplemandatory practice labs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises, teaches and assesses students during radiographic positioning practice labs, the schedule for which varies by semester and may include evening hours
  • Confers with lead positioning faculty and additional instructors to clarify course content and ensure cohesive grading practices and expectations. May include incorporation of tasks pertaining to positioning, anatomy and exposure experiments
  • Demonstrates radiographic procedures and clinical skills. Assesses student performance and tracks completion of all procedures and clinical skills in positioning practice labs
  • Performs numerous coordinating and scheduling tasks including but not limited to aligning lab schedules with course syllabi and semester calendars, logging student attendance and task completion, scheduling and monitoring standardized patients and coordinating educational experiences in partnership with
  • other allied health programs
  • Trains students, faculty and staff on all radiation generating and non-radiation generating equipment, safe operating procedures and radiation protection measures
  • Maintains all training, equipment operation/service and radiation protection records in compliance with regulatory entities including but not limited to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • Researches and writes quality assurance and quality control policies which align with regulatory agency requirements
  • Serves as quality control technologist by performing all quality control tests
  • Schedules and attends physicist surveys and ODH inspections
  • Ensures equipment and quality assurance compliance in preparation for the annual physicist surveys and triennial ODH inspections
  • Assists in the development of policies related to the radiography lab
  • Monitors and orders lab supplies and provides budget projections for future needs
  • Performs inventory tasks in collaboration with Asset Management
  • Researches equipment and products in preparation for purchase
  • Performs equipment disposal in compliance with college protocol and regulatory agency requirements
  • Investigates and resolves equipment malfunctions. Maintains detailed malfunction and service notes
  • Schedules annual preventative maintenance and equipment repairs with service provider
  • Reviews and validates work orders and invoices
  • Maintains effective communication with students, faculty, staff and service providers
  • Participates in program outcomes assessment and accreditation processes
  • Maintains radiographic teaching film files including coordinating borrowing procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Associate degree or higher
  • Current radiography certification R.T.(R) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Ohio Radiologic License
  • Two years documented clinical experience in the professional discipline
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital image acquisition processes and technology
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency or the ability to become proficient in learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard) and instructional technologies
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

PREFFERED QULAIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Teaching experience
  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • ARRT certification in one or more additional imaging modalities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The work is performed in normal, professional office and lab environments.
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
  • The employee will stand and walk for lengthy periods of time.
  • The employee will manipulate radiographic supplies and equipment and adjust the radiographic tube, which is at a height of 76 - 80 inches from the floor.
  • The employee will lift, carry, and manipulate radiographic accessories.
  • The employee will skillfully position individuals who may weigh in excess of 300 pounds.
  • The employee will transport a mobile radiography machine.
  • Radiographic positioning and equipment manipulation tasks require the use of the arms and hands with the support of the back and legs.
  • The employee will observe students from a distance of up to 20 feet and have the visual capability to read the radiographic control panel.
  • The employee may sit comfortably to perform some duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with arms, hands and fingers using lab equipment, a computer mouse and keyboard.
