Responsibilities:
Maintains budget control on capital expenditures.
Prepares and presents project/cost summaries for management.
Applies new technology to older equipment, as needed, to improve equipment performance, reliability, and throughput.
Sets up and conducts experiments for projects, programs, or systems using known methods. Projects require understanding of scientific and
engineering
principles.
Participates in planning technical details of programs, projects or systems within clear defined objectives and standards.
Interfaces with sales, marketing and R&D to implement new products and or processes.
Maintains awareness of related technologies, programs, projects, problems, plant processes and marketing.
Is responsible for organizing the available technical resources and controlling the day- to-day operations of the programs or projects.
Reviews milestones with leadership.
Consults internal and external resources and directs the work of hourly employees who are assigned to the project as well as other engineers and outside consultants/contractors.
Is able to adapt existing technology in novel ways to solve problems and to complete projects.
Writes periodic reports and gives oral presentations to management and customers on specific projects.
Insures that HS&EP policies affecting projects are followed.
Applies quality standards to projects to insure compliance with certification requirements in plant applications.
Provides engineering support for other plant departments as needed to sustain safe, efficient and reliable plant operations.
Ensures that ongoing maintenance plans are in place prior to projects being turned over to operations.
Provides required engineering to recommend and implement modifications to existing equipment including scope, estimate, procurement, construction/installation and startup troubleshooting.
Complies with and facilitates all change management processes.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously.
Project scopes can require larger teams and may include support from additional project managers.
Monitors equipment repairs as to technical specifications methodology, condition, testing, inspection, and acceptance of quality.


Qualifications:
Engineering degree, BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
Minimum five years' experience in an engineering role in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience with managing capital budgets.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Strong
computer
skills.
Flexibility for occasional travel. (0-10%)
Supervisory experience.
Ability to establish and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Strong track record in the area of project management.
Knowledgeable of SPC principles, control charts, statistics.
Ability to function in a self-directed work team.
Motivated self-starter, hands on approach, and detail oriented.
Skilled in multiple areas including combustion systems, complex mechanical equipment, high temperature material, rolling equipment, laminating equipment and coating processes.
Knowledgeable of HS&EP policies as it affects area of responsibility.
Able to successfully manage and troubleshoot unforeseen problems related to external vendors as well as internal team members.

Knowledgeable of applications of various quality principles and has applied to projects.
Proficient in a wide variety of software programs including ACAD, Solid works and project management scheduling tools.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
