Rathbone Group has an immediate opening for a Full time Legal Assistant in our Downtown Cleveland office. This position will assist company attorneys in various states by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions and
Responsibilities:
Prepares affidavits, legal correspondence, and organizes and maintains documents in paper or electronic filing system. Prepares for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits and contacting witnesses. Prepares legal documents, including briefs, pleadings and appeals. Meets with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case. Files pleadings with court and serves pleadings upon other parties. Gathers and analyzes research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents. Calls upon witnesses to testify at hearing or trial. Investigates facts and law of cases and search pertinent sources, such as public records, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
QUALIFICATIONS
Legal Assistant/Paralegal Certificate or Associates Degree in legal/paralegal studies or equivalent experience. 2
years of work experience in a litigation law firm preferred. Work experience in a law firm handling insurance-related matters, and subrogation experience a plus. Working knowledge of local and district court rules as well as government websites. Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook, and JST Software a plus. Ability to take initiative and work independently for multiple supervisors. Good interpersonal, organizational, communications and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal affairs and client information.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
