Reporting to the Senior Technology Manager, the Senior Analytical Scientist is a critical member of the corporate R&D technology team. A primary responsibility of the Senior Analytical Scientist will be leading the chromatography initiatives within the group including, but not limited to, liquid chromatography, gas chromatography mass spectrometry analysis, and size exclusion chromatography. they are responsible for problem solving using reliable analytical data obtained by various analytical techniques, and for writing clear and concise reports from analysis of the data. The Senior Analytical Scientist is also responsible for providing timely responses to internal and external requests and for providing accurate quotes for external customer projects.
Provides project management for large and complex analytical projects from within the organization as well as from external customers.
Prepares and presents technical documents to customers, including mid and senior levels of management.
Leads teams with members from multiple businesses to resolve complex analytical company problems.
Mentors other analytical scientists in the group and is often asked for opinions.
Publishes technical papers and presents them at analytical conferences.
Recognized within and outside of company for analytical accomplishments.
Performs independently and effectively coaches others to achieve results in a matrix environment.
Required Experience
8+years of direct, relevant experience within the chemical/plastics industry with the ability to interact, present and influence cross functionally and globally both internally and externally with customers.
Demonstrated cross functional experience that includes environmental, health and safety, Design of Experiment (DOE), research and technical writing.
Education:
PhD in polymers, chemistry, chemical engineering or related fields is required.
Skills
Strong working knowledge of material science, polymer chemistry, and polymer processing.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little or no direction.
Excellent communication and team building skills.
Project management experience.
Strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage and synthesize large amounts of data.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and have working knowledge SAP applications.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
