Electrician (Working in Antarctica)


Summary:
Electrician to support the Antarctic Support Contract and the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program. Accomplishes hands-on electrical tasks on maintenance and construction projects in Antarctica.

GENERAL DUTIES (not all inclusive):
Accomplishes hands-on electrical tasks on maintenance and construction projects in Antarctica.
Performs rough wiring, power distribution wiring, and wiring of electrical equipment, maintenance, and fixtures, and installation of conduit according to the National Electric Code (NEC).
Advises the Electrician Foreman on job progress and material requirements.
Accomplishes various projects utilizing design drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
Must be willing to work outside on various job sites in extreme cold weather conditions.
Maintains a safe workplace program and ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Current Electrical license or other states' equivalent is required.
Minimum four years of documented experience in all phases of electrical work, including rough wiring, power distribution wiring, wiring of electrical equipment and fixtures, and installation of conduit is required.
Experience in repair and maintenance of airfield lighting and/or heat tracing of outdoor insulated piping is preferred.
The ability to read design drawings and wiring diagrams is required.
Experience working with voltages up to 4160 volts is preferred.
Experience in commercial or industrial environment is preferred.
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.
Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods is required.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.
Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.
Must participate in community programs, such as house-mouse (chores), daisy-picking (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts and safety objectives.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
