Job Description:
This position is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the network and telephony infrastructure. This role is required to provide both technical leadership along with the management of a team of network engineers and administrators.
The position requires someone that has strong technical knowledge of a wide breath of network and telephony principles along with hands on experience. This individual must be familiar with best practices as it relates to both the implementation and ongoing operations of an enterprise landscape. This position will be responsible for the managing an existing team of engineers and administrators that are responsible for the 24x7 ongoing maintenance/support while assisting with the delivery of corporate initiatives.
Areas of responsibilities include but not limited to:
Provide leadership and direction to team members
Manage team to resolution of problem tickets for a 24x7x365 network
Drive operational and proactive monitoring of corporate WAN/LAN/SAN/MPLS/IPS/Wireless networks
Capacity Planning - Analyzes enterprise sites bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies. Develops capacity planning models.
Able to execute and demonstrate sound project management disciplines
Maintain and develop project plans used to manage resource workload and budgeting
Design, engineer, implement, and manage complex networks, systems and configurations in a global, multi-site enterprise environment
Disaster Recovery - Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met
Ensures documentation of all relevant specifications, systems, and procedures are maintained
Development and enforcement of process, procedures and standards
Analyze network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance.
Manage support team and provide hands on assistance when required to production switches, routers, load balancers, intrusion prevention systems, firewalls and VPN's
Implementation and administration of Site-to-site VPN and remote client VPN access
Enforce network standards to drive global hardware and software purchases
Management of the corporate VoIP and collaboration suite
Manage corporate contracts for hardware, software and teleco maintenance
Participate in the creation of the annual budgets and project portfolios
Provide leadership in the area of perimeter security by delivering appropriate procedures, access controls, and change control, vulnerability testing and incident management.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5 or more years of experience with managing a network team of administrators and engineers
Advanced experience with Sniffer and/or related analysis tools to analyze network application performance problems and troubleshooting
Cisco network certifications or demonstrated experience, such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCSP is a big plus
Good working knowledge of structured copper and fiber cabling infrastructure standards
Must have extensive understanding in VPNs and MPLS networks and their management
Expert hands on knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stacks, Ethernet, FCoE, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, VPN and NAC.
Expert knowledge of Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring Cisco routers, switches and firewalls
Strong experience with Cisco network design and implementation in a highly virtualized enterprise environment
Interface with facilities engineering experts to plan, design and/or modify standards-based building cabling environments that support wired and wireless networking and telephony needs
Strong understanding of major enterprise UNIX and Windows operating systems as well as virtualization technologies a plus
Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis and test planning skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, communications, and presentation skills.
Viewed as technical SME in network analysis, design and engineering. Ability to serve as a technical mentor to guide others.
Expert knowledge of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Cisco Nexus products (core, distribution, data center), Cisco Catalyst product lines and their configuration
Strong understanding of QoS technologies (Layer 2 and 3 QOS, Low-Latency Queuing, etc.).
Experience with implementing QOS to optimize end user performance
Knowledge of Cisco wireless controllers and AP's
Familiarity with Cisco VoIP solutions and Unified Communications products
Expertise in reading and analyzing network traces to determine the root cause of network problems and failures. Familiarity with the configuration and use of NetFlow to troubleshoot network performance issues
Strong hands-on knowledge in optimization and tuning of complex Cisco LANWANWLAN configurations and technology for maximizing performance and throughput
Working knowledge with Riverbed WAN Optimization configuration, implementation and troubleshooting is a plus.
In depth knowledge in load balancing and content switching/load balancing related concepts is a plus.
In depth knowledge of Network/Infrastructure Security technologies (IPSEC, SSL/VPN tunneling, Firewall access control, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, administrative access control) and compliance (PCI, SOX, HIPAA)
Strong working knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies including Cisco based fabrics
Advanced hands-on knowledge in design, engineering and management of Cisco MDS switching infrastructure.
PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) including good documentation and analytical skills.
Applicant should excel in a team environment, and must be a self-starter when it comes to learning new skills or staying current.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in related IT field
