RESPONSIBILITY:

The Manager of Individual Giving and Major Gifts reports to the Vice President of Development and is responsible for unrestricted contributed revenue from individuals to WRHS.

CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as Full time professional and is exempt from overtime compensation.

DUTIES:

  • Works with the VP of Development, the President & CEO and WRHS Department Heads to stimulate contributions from individual donors to support operations of WRHS.
  • Maintains contact with key Annual Fund donors.
  • Prepares and submits detailed fundraising plans for the Annual Fund to the VP of Development including the development of the strategy and oversight of the execution of the solicitation and acknowledgement process for Annual Fund and Major Gift donors.
  • Maintains up-to-date donor prospect lists identifying and tracking progress of donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Works with the entire Development Team on donor cultivation events.
  • Coordinates all individual solicitations, maintaining contact with all donors before and after gifts are committed involving the CEO, VP of Development and other staff as appropriate.
  • Personally participates in fundraising from individuals, and at the same time implements strategies to leverage WRHS leadership relations to increase giving to the organization.
  • Performs development tasks as assigned by the VP of Development


Qualifications:

The Manager of Individual Giving and Major Gifts is a professional position of the Western Reserve Historical Society that requires professional experience and achievement, unquestioned personal integrity and creativity.
Educational requirements include an undergraduate degree in a related field.
Professional experience should include at least three years of development work with a non-profit organization, preferably a museum or other cultural non-profit organization.
Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills are essential as well as the ability to work in a team atmosphere and meet a continuing series of goals-oriented deadlines.
Good working knowledge of Raiser's Edge is desirable.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
