Cook-Full Time

Position will work with our Kitchen Manager and food services staff to prepare and serve a variety of nutritious and diverse meals, meeting the needs of Adult Residential clients. The cook will also oversee clients in completion of their kitchen duties, ensuring they are completed in a manner consistent with their treatment needs.

Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • Timely preparation of meals in accordance with the rotating, approved menus provided. Creation of restricted diet meals where authorized
  • Maintenance of perpetual inventory of fresh, frozen, and canned food stocks, spices, condiments and commodity items used in sanitation, cleaning and serving of meals.
  • Reviews approved menus for the subsequent week and prepares food order for our purveyors, purchase of fresh fruit and vegetables at the Northeast Food Terminal and snacks and other items at the Cleveland Food Bank. Submits all order to CFO for approval prior to purchase.
  • Insures proper storage and rotation of fresh and frozen food stocks to insure freshness, minimize waste and comply with local and state health codes.
  • Directly supervises volunteer residential client and community service worker food preparation and clean up personnel.
  • Sanitation
  • Maintains the highest level of sanitation in the food preparation, kitchen and dining areas to include notifying supervision of any repair or maintenance that needs to be accomplished, indication of any pest infestation, or inspections that need to be completed (ie the HOOD inspection every 6 months.)

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must have experience with large batch, institutional cooking (up to 100 clients).

Ability to cope effectively with crisis situations.

Working knowledge of government nutritional guidelines and requirements.

Credentials/Academic Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

  • At least five (2) years experience in food preparation.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
