Officer, Law Enforcement Unit (LEU)
An opportunity exists within The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in the Cincinnati facility to serve as a Law Enforcement Officer. The successful candidate will enforce federal laws and Federal Reserve policies and regulations to protect life, property and assets. The individual will also respond to incidents on Bank property and provide emergency services. This position is an essential function of the Bank and may require extended work hours and/or work during emergency or crisis situations.
Essential Accountabilities:
Operates as a law enforcement officer pursuant to the authority given the Board of Governors by Section 11 (q) of the Federal Reserve Act Authorized personnel act as law enforcement officers pursuant to regulations of the Board of Governors and approved by the US Attorney General (Uniform Regulations for Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officers).
Controls pedestrian and vehicle access to the facility, patrols building and reports unusual situations or unauthorized individuals.
Responds to general alarm, provides emergency service, and follows local response protocol until the alarm or situation has been resolved.
Monitors Bank departments for safety or security violation and reports findings to department management.
Prepares logs and input information pertaining to incident and daily activity reports in prescribed format.
Monitors metal detectors or utilizes metal detection wands to scan visitors, personal items, and packages for unauthorized items.
Monitors and authorizes visitors accessing Bank facilities and records visitor data on appropriate logs.
Monitors surveillance equipment, intercoms, telephones, radios, and other specialized equipment Inspects vehicles entering security sensitive areas for unauthorized personnel or contents.
With assistance of a senior FRLEO, may conduct initial investigations into accidents and incidents, make proper notifications to the shift officer in charge, and perform follow up duties as directed.
Could be needed to testify in court in response to a subpoena regarding accidents or incidents.
Develops proficiency in areas such as weapons (lethal and non-lethal), first aid, CPR, firefighting techniques, civil disorders, and public relations, by attending training classes.
Must exhibit spontaneous good judgment over life and safety issues (shoot and don't shoot scenarios, discrete handling of detected weapons and/or explosive devices, when to employ use of life saving and rescue equipment, etc.).
Develops proficiency in use of personal computer (PC) and related software, computerized physical access control systems, video surveillance equipment, x-ray and metal detection equipment, various alarms systems and Automated External Defibrillators.
Access law enforcement and Bank databases and processes law enforcement intelligence in order to accomplish the FRLEO mission and to operate effectively within the larger law enforcement community.
With the assistance of a senior FRLEO, may assist in completing; the daily testing and maintenance of Law Enforcement Unit equipment, collection of fingerprints for the purpose of employment screening.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.

Job Specifications:
High school education or equivalency
1 years of related work experience
Knowledge of regulations, procedures and practices of a specific discipline
Ability to perform routine tasks
Employees in this position require physical capabilities such as lifting, climbing and crawling along with the ability to work with their hands. They can be exposed to uncomfortable areas (such as crawl spaces) to investigate.
Exposure to climate elements (internal/external) will occur based upon task rotation.
Ability to lift and carry equipment required.
Due to being a first responder in the event of emergency, taking and passing periodic physical fitness tests is part of the requirements to perform the job.
Ability to shoot a weapon and firearm training is necessary.
Must be at least 21 years of age
Successful completion of Basic Law Enforcement Course (BLEC) and Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP).
Physical ability to pass endurance test
Maintains composure and performs reliably under stressful conditions
Knowledge of first aid, CPR and emergency response procedures for fire, earthquake and other disasters
Ability to effectively respond to emergency situations, within the scope of assigned duties
Operates specialized automated security systems
Valid driver's license

Comply with all Federal/State regulations regarding proper equipment usage in the case of an emergency.

Additional Information:
Related experience includes but not limited to law enforcement, police officer, military service, corrections, and security work.
Minimum qualifications and standards for hiring:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Must not have any disqualifying criminal convictions.
Must not have any convictions of domestic violence.
Have been honorably discharged from the military, if applicable.
Currently not under indictment for any offense.
Eligible to possess a firearm and ammunition.
Pass drug screening exam.
Pass medical/health evaluation.
Pass psychological evaluation.

Ability to work any regularly scheduled shift - day, evening and night, and the ability to work overtime and be available on regularly scheduled days off including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Demonstrate proficiency on all annual components of Federal Reserve System Law Enforcement Training Manual.
