Program Specialist (Controlled Substance Coordinator)

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Ensure an adequate number of Controlled Substance Inspectors (CSI) are available to complete the required inventories and inspections in each area that stores controlled substance. Maintain and revise the Controlled Substances Program as needed. Provide and ensure CSI complete all training requirements. Provide oversight for inspector performance and incentives. Alert the Director and Executive Team regarding any issues/abuse in a timely manner. Participate in inspections, clarify missed inspections and reviews inspection reports for accuracy and completion as required. Ensure timely and appropriate functioning of the inspection program. Ensure consolidated reports for all monthly inspections, including inspection reports with summaries detailing discrepancies and corrective actions taken/recommended are maintained centrally in the Controlled Substance Coordinator's files for ready availability. Audit profile overrides daily. Train the CSI's. Provide a monthly summary of findings (including discrepancies) to the Medical Center Director and Executive Leadership Board. Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. This experience must have equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. ensuring completed inspection reports are received from inspectors in a timely manner with all discrepancies noted; participating in inspections and clarifying missed inspections; reviewing inspection reports for accuracy; providing annual refresher training for all Controlled Substance Inspectors (CSI); maintaining accurate and complete records that can be retrieved and interpreted easily by external/internal auditors; ensuring a quarterly report is provided to the director summarizing any identified discrepancies or problematic trends and potential areas for improvement; and maintaining the databases for discrepancies and their resolution. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) - Combination of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
