MILITARY PAY SUPERVISOR

GS-08 QUALIFICATIONS One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as:
Reviewing and processing a wide variety of complex military payroll transactions, determining entitlements, examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness and accuracy, reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complicated military payroll problems or issues using variety of techniques. Experience:
Eighteen months of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Applying expert-level knowledge of a large body of military pay rules, procedures and operations sufficient to process pay actions requiring audits, corrections, and adjustments of several interrelated aspects of military pay, sufficient to provide leadership, training and support to others responsible for this work, experience must include applying expert-level knowledge of related payroll systems sufficient to take necessary intervention and bypass of normal automated systems and procedures, and resolve issues within the automated systems. Experience:
A Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D, when education is directly related to the position being filled, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time-in-grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-09 position, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-08 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-08 position, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher in the Federal service.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
