Budget Officer

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected Resource Management team in the Administrative Division that is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive financial management program for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Ohio. Typical work assignments will include:
Planning, formulating, justifying, implementing and administering budget and financial management activities. Providing positive recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations, and program accomplishments. Preparing Operating Plan district budget estimates. Preparing budget justifications for recommended allocation levels, particularly deviations from initial office submissions. Planning work to be accomplished and setting priorities in financial management, procurement, and support services. Assigning work to others based on difficulty of assignments and staff capabilities. Reviewing work completed by others to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Providing technical advice and assistance to resolve problems referred by staff. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. For the GS-13 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this grade would include:
independently planning, managing and defining of a comprehensive administrative support program to include financial management, procurement, and support services management; monitoring obligations, appropriating funds, and validating expenses; developing internal budget policies and procedures; preparing budget estimates and projections; performing budget procedures related to employee travel; completing cost comparisons and payroll analysis; analyzing legislation and developing justification narratives; reviewing procurement documents, e.g., contracts, credit card statements, purchase orders; reviewing work completed by others to ensure accuracy and efficiency; and serving as a budget advisor, explaining budget policies, and giving briefings to higher management with little to no supervision. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
